Hi, Mike no sorry it is not mine and my Cord is in fairly good shape and my library of original documents would make it difficult to close the garage door. This is an old youtube tribute video found from years ago. I am in my seventy's and time sure seems to pass quickly I notice it is not so easy to get up and down, we are just caretakers, as was quoted.

Mike with great pleasure I can tell you today the engine in the Actonite Cord came back to life after the restoration started 6 1/2 years ago. In the past couple of weeks I had been having trouble with the fuel pump and carburetor.
She is running sweetly. Tomorrow I will remove the front wheels and see how if she will change gears again.
Let's face it the guys in the Auburn Design Department were miracle workers.

I don't now how old you are Balinwire but don't let the next video done by your family be about another generation not getting it running. Full speed ahead. I am impressed by your video skill and your fathers contribution to our country. My father contributed also, and so did I.

CORDiallyMike

I am impressed and moved by this tribute to both a WWII veteran and a Cord "caretaker" as we all need to be. My personal appreciation of my Beverly started when I was 10 years old in 1961 when my father, Also a WWII veteran AND a flight engineer top gunner position in a B 24 Liberator like Mr Smith . I first laid eyes on Dads Cord. It too was behind a set of expandable steel gates and I was NEVER allowed to touch it till 1967 when we pieced it back together to move this car home. After seeing it for so many years growing up...And finally getting to touch it... Well I was too young for the understanding that I was becoming a caretaker even at 10 years old.But now, just a few months short of my 70th birthday I feel its time to really get to work and finish our Cord. My promise is to do as close to perfection as possible but still have it drive-able too. These are very special cars to be enjoyed by everyone. Not kept in a museum.

this video is of interest as it reflects trials of ownership. Removing fender at 91 years old, never give up!

Replied by Terry Cockerell on topic another interesting Cord related article
Amelia Earhart's Cord has received a lot of attention since the restoration was completed and rightly so as it has a unique provenance and has been restored to perfection. From one of Garry Parson's pictures taken in Auburn the Serial Number of Amelia's Cord is 812 - 1501 H and the Engine Number is FB 2008.

Credit must be given to Ray Foster the previous owner of the car for tracking down FB 2008 which had been transferred to a Westchester at some point and reuniting it with the phaeton.

*******************************************************************************************************

Referring to The Timeless Classic's lists of 812 Cords the previous Serial Number to 812 - 1501 A is 812 - 1500 A which is listed as a Westchester with a Factory fitted bolt on accessory trunk. This car was originally owned by Edna Cord, EL's sister. It was recently imported into Australia. It is incredible that these two cars were together on the production line . In my humble opinion I think it should have stayed in America.
