Using a Speedi-Sleeve is much easier and cheaper.

i mentioned how my front spindle had a wear channel front the seal riding on it. These are a part worthy of repair and I thought I would share this video of a very similar shaped part that was being repaired and it is a method that work with the Cord front drive steering spindle. Its an interesting watch, my only concern would it draw the temper from the part, this is explained late in the video and it is not a problem.

Chicago Rawhide or CR is a name. You probably won't be getting a rawhide seal. The Co. was in business back when rawhide was the material in their seals.

glad you mention rawhide, there was a rubber seal on my hub spindle and it wore a channel in the surface. i suspected the leather was easier on the old alloys. Leather may not seal as well though with modern lube.

There are several that will work. CR 21100, CR21103. They are the same ID and OD. CR 21100 ss .438" thick. CR 21103 is .375" thick.

Note: CR is Chicago Rawhide which is now owned by SKF.

Which seal are you looking for? There on one in the front wheel bearing retaining nut, one in the outter CV joint bell and one on the inner CV joint housing.

I recall two different size seals for the front axles. But try to get the internal size where the shaft rides and the external size that fits the hub. That that and the old seal to any large bearing supplier and sak for help. I can search my records tomorrow for the size seals and part numbers I used.
