On April 9th 1936, a man by the name of Amos Mason of Acton, Ontario walked into O'Donnell Mackie the ACD agents in Toronto to pick up his sparkling new Cadet Grey Westchester. The weather was cool without any rain.
Consequently April 9th is the day we celebrate the car's birthday, this year marks the 85th. I had hoped to have the restoration completed by now and be able to go for a drive but those plans went out the window ages ago. Restoration time just tends to grow.
While doing research on Acton, Ontario I was intrigued to read that in the past there were two types of people in Acton.
Actonians were referred to as long term residents and new arrivals were called Actonites. Later I found that the original owner had the car for about 12 months and then sold it, hence the adoption of that name for the car. My Canadian friends are delighted with the choice.
The attached pictures are.
