Mike adjusting the tappets on a Cord with the engine in the car is a tedious job.
Doing a complete valve job with the engine in the car would be a real trial especially if you dropped a valve collet. Time to remove the sump.
OHV engines make it all so much easier ........................ progress!
That reminds me of an April Fools Joke that was in the newsletter a long time ago. It was a drawing of an OHV Cord V8 that was on the books. A heap of universal joints would have had to be fitted to the steering column.

Its amazing how compact the engine is. When the valves are put overhead the engines get much bigger. They also make more power though.

Trevor, I think other American V8s engines had similar designs which breath better than a pure side valve engine like the Ford V8.

Looking good man, I love the design of the valve angle on these engines, another typical "Cordanomaly"

Gary new heads with the deeper cooling jacket were fitted about eleven years ago. They worked very well as the original heads had fine cracks.

Very nice Terry. What are your plans for the heads? New larger capasity or original thickness and still retain the stock head bolts?

Trevor, the engine is almost finished. It looks too nice to be put back to work.
I plan on keeping it clean and using it as a driver.

Hi Trevor great to hear it is back on the road. It looks fabulous, a real head turner.
I'm close to finishing the assembly of my engine and hope to have it back in the frame soon along with the gearbox.

Thanks, kinda hard to photograph but fits in there just fine, and reversible should a future custodian feel inclined, not that I intend on parting any time soon .

Rear damper project finished. was created by [email protected]
I completed the telescopic damper conversion yesterday, I used the right rear lever damper on the left front as it was a Delco unit that was siezed. So drove it home today, first real drive since acquiring her Boxing Day. Drove really well, better than I expected, brakes leave a little to be desired though. Have a few other jobs left, the front spring has lost some tension on the left side and the front dampers leak a little from the seals, but that can wait until after the summer. Overall pretty happy !
