I spent an hour one day Dremmel/Moto tooling off a couple of inches from my RR PI Springfield exhaust to install an original fishtail.

Instead of cutting a pipe straight across at a right angle you cut it at a angle, say 45 degree angle or any other angle that suits. This directs the exhaust gases down before the end of the pipe.

Thanks all for the help, as I see on the picture of the white car, the RL bumperette it is placed way on the left side, so this will help.
On my exhaust there is now a Chrome added-on extension; is this original on our cars? Is it maybe the M 102-32 Sleeve extension George mentions? (sorry cannot send picture I'm away from Athens right now) If a chrome extension is original I could easily pull it out so it clears the bumper as Mike suggests.
Also Mike, please explain to me what is a 'baloney' cut?

It really helps if you can get the exhaust tip back further from the bumper and bumperette. This can be a problem on many cars. point exhaust tip toward ground or do a baloney cut on pipe.

Hi Aris, attached are some Factory pictures that were taken in Connersville .
These are excellent references.

Hi all!
After many years I just re-chromed the bumpers and I’m about to reinstall the Bumperettes on them.
I had a problem with the RL Bumperette which I had placed above the exhaust pipe; it was always black with exhaust deposits and ended up eating away the chrome and rusting both the bumper and the bumperette itself.
I now need to re-adjust it's position so any pictures of both rear and front bumpers would be appreciated!
Thanks guys, Aris
