water pump fan belt was created by GeorgeKathy
I have a '32 Auburn 160 A and it has a v belt on it and I am embarrassed to say I can't find a way to adjust it. Should the belt be a link belt instead?

Not sure about your year but Cord and later Auburn’s the water pump pulley squeezes together to raise the belt. Have to loosen a couple nuts and rotate the pulley sides in opposite directions.

There are 2 (or 3) slots on the pulley with bolts/studs. (I've seen both) loosen the bolts, but do not remove.
One portion is fixed to the Water pump shaft.
The other part can 'slide' to tighten the gap of the "V" , re-tighten the bolts.
**Your belt may be worn/stretched, and the adjustment may already be as tight (travel in the slots) as it can go, so you might need a new belt.

Thanks so much guys. I have seen centrifugal clutch's that work on that principle but are activated by increasing RPM's. Never thought about it being applied here. There's nothing like a club to help keep old cars running!

Depending on how it was treated in the past , they can be a problem to get to move . May need to disassemble and cleanup and straighten. I actually Weld nuts that’s fits a punch on each part to get a good adjustment point
