I have a 1931 8-98A custom convertible coupe. I can't seem to find the ID plate on the car. I've done a bunch of reading, and looked in the place I've read that it should be located ( under the carpet on the right side) , but have not yet found it. I have my engine number: GU36818, and the four digit number from the right frame rail which either reads 1780 or 4870. I believe it's the latter-- the left portion of the 4 is faint or missing, and the portion to the right of the vertical is clearly visible. I've read that I'd need to add 1000 to that, possibly making the vin number 898-5870? I'd ideally like to replace the missing VIN plate with a correct and verified one. Can anyone recommend the best way to go about this? Thank you!
