I have. slip-yoke first then rear U joint, You shouldn't have to move motor forward or slide rear back.

I did shorten it one inch, and it fits fine. Craig Wanderly did come up with a proper sequence, which I wasn't aware of before.
It requires installing the slip-yoke first and putting the U joint on the rear last. Still very tight, according to him

Hey Mark, There are five different drive shaft lengths, look on page 17 of the 34 parts book and page 2 of the 35-36 supplement. . Possibly you have the wrong combination. Unless you have the correct drive shaft in stock, just shorten the one you have.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Has anyone ever installed a driveshaft on a 34-36 Auburn? It seems like one of two things has to be done first: either move the engine forward 1-2 inches
or move the differential back 1-2 inches in order to get it to slide in place...
