Curt, Use action instead of quick reply and it won't happen but you can't see what you posted without scrolling.

I had a full paragraph of responses and questions. Received a phone call and the damn thing timed out. I am not re-inputting it !

The black 35 851 Phaeton you see us driving all the time actually says on the title that it is a Salon Phaeton. I assume that is Sidemounts, trunk, dual horns under hood, radio, wheel disks, bumper guards, and ....

I have an unrestored 1936 852 Phaeton (which by the way needs a new home as spending time on the other 36 852 Phaeton) that I would guess is a Custom (it has sidemounts and a trunk (but that is it in accessories), schwarze (spelling ?) horn on frame rail, radio delete plate (looks like an Auburn emblem verses a radio face without dial), no radiator ornament/mascot (I added it as car looked seriously like something was missing), and no running board moldings (I added them too as car again looked like something was missing).

I have never had a 851 or 852 that didn't have the stainless strip on the running boards, or holes where they were mounted. Have you Mark?
A trunk, side mounts, chrome wire wheels, dish pans, s/c, clock, come to mind. I think bumper guards , radios & heaters were dealer installed.

I think another option might have been the stainless steel trim strip along the runningboard...

YES 1933 usage of the term was totally different .It was not used in 1934 they used letter suffix to denote std and custom ie X,Y salon usually meant more custom options. R

The company seemed to use the term Salon in 1933 as a description of the upper line of cars. Then they brought it back in 35 for a short time.
It seems they never made a distinction what was or was not included, It that what you have found Randy?

Thanks Randy.
What type of options? Why do I see the two listed separately when models are compared?

What is the difference between a Custom and Salon 1935/36 851/852 Cabriolet?
