Pete thanks for the acessary book pics showing the top of the hood ornaments. When I visited with Randy Ema a year ago he showed me the ornament that looks like the tail of an airplane but he did not have the long strip running down the hood. I recal him telling me that was on the hoods of the Auburns so it was not in the Cord accessory book. But again I saw the hardtop two door Supercharged Cord with the Auburn headlights and the Auburn hood ornament thats in the Museum.a

Only one Cord had a top hood ornament that ran from the front to the back. It actually was the one from an Auburn. It was on the one off Cord hard top from the factory. It also had the Suburn head lights. This 2 door hard top now is in the Auburn Cord Museum. This car was featured in a past news letter too.

That hood ornament is 35 & 36 Auburn there were no 37's

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Is that the same top hood ornament found on the 1936 & 1937 Auburns?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThis is the 36 or 37 Cord hood winged ornament that most will install. Sadly I do not have a pic of the other top of the hood ornament.

If your refering to the front of the hood then those were only found on the 36 and 37 Cords. The other hood ornament was an oddly looking winged piece that attached to the top of the hood.It looked very much like the tail section of most airplanes. Most felt it was not very becoming looking.

While I was at the Museum I photographed the coffin nose Cord of 1936 and 1937. The Yellow one (1936) did not have a hood ornament. However, the Red one (1937) did. In looking at the photo's now it appears that the hood ornamet on the red Cord (1937) is exactly like the one found on the 1936 to 1937 Auburn. Did the coffin nose Cord's have hood ornaments and if so, were they the same as found on the 1936 1937 Auburn.
