It is also in the patent drawing for the Cabriolet in Lee Beck and Josh Malks book, Auburn & Cord, page 75. In both books on the next pages, there is a picture of Alan Leamy in a Speedster that shows the bumpers too.

Found the 4view drawing and you can see my bumper is correct.
Thanks to everyone for all the input.

Your bumper mounts on the back of the attaching bar which is correct for the 31-33 cars. Look closely at the left front of the dark colored car at the bottom of the pix. Too many computer scans for good resolution. Others may have better pix. Look only at old original pix for correctness, not someones restored car.

Curt,
I can't see it very well in your photos. So is my bumper correct or wrong?
Thanks,
Richard

Your bumper and backer bar are correct. The backer bar should be on the inside of the bumper to create the full round off the bumper end. Love your colors and the car makes a very nice presentation.

Take a look at photo #2 and look at how the rear bumper is attached. I had a fellow tell me at the show that it should be attached the other way with the bumper on the opposite side of the support.
What is your opinion on this?
Thanks, Tom and Curtiss for the compliment.

Went to my first show with the 31 Phaeton, this was a fantastic venue. Attached are some photos.
Won best in class and received my invitation to Amelia Island, a great weekend.
