Adjustment Knob on 660Z delco distributor

Garden variety wheel bearing grease.

Personally, I would not have installed a Pertronix ignition .
1- The modification is visual.
2- Go over to the AACA site and read about problems with them.
3- Points are available at NAPA and are very easy to adjust.

Any particular grease that this takes?

You are correct; the knob is a greaser and is turned periodically to grease the distributor.

I'm not an Auburn expert or even close but I believe this knob is how the grease gets forced into the bushing internally. I recall reading something some time back at a mileage point to adjust and to refill this cavity with grease. Hope others more able to comment on what I have posted. Spreading bad information is not what I want to do but will be watching other answers.

I just installed a 660Z delco distributor back into out 8-98 replacing an incorrect dist. I also installed Pertronix and it runs great but I have a question.

What is the adjusting knob on the side of the distributor for and now that I have converted to electronic ignition does it have any function? When I installed it I turned it all the way in but am not sure if that was the right thing to do.
