Yes, they are 'M' head bolts. There are a few 'W's on the car but mostly M. I am restoring an 898 now and examine every bolt head. It is my belief that none of the bolts were plated but natural. There are many square head nuts as opposed to hex.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Bolt head question was created by Rlamb10769
I am restoring a 31 Auburn 8-98A and my bolt head markings look like a M not a W, the legs are straight not slanted like a W. My question is could they be a M? Also how would I know if they were cad or black because they are rusted.
Thanks for any info.
Richard
