In June 1937 my father purchased a used 23hp Auburn Phaeton. Two and a bit years later I was born, and consequently grew up with this magnificent car, regretting very much that he sold it on in about 1953.
Its purchaser then was a Commander Morgan-Giles of Teignmouth, Devon, UK, and I understand that a later purchaser might have returned the car to the USA. The UK registration was CLB216. Last known colour was silver (originally black) and it still had the wonderful red leather balloon seats.
Apart from liking to know that my favourite car is, perhaps, still alive and well, I can offer the present owner the purchase documents I found amongst my late father's papers, plus some garage bills from 1937-38, correcting a few faults. Apart from sheer sentiment, I have no use for the papers, but feel that they ought to go with the car if it's still around.
If anybody knows its whereabouts, or has any further information, I would love to hear from you!
