Stan is correct, everything needs to be CLEAN. The gage works on head pressure through capillary air lines, that need to be TIGHT. If you need the special red manometer fluid that does not turn clear in a short period of time or advise on how to get the gage calibrated, give me a call 715-262-3183

It's mostly a matter of having the tank unit and dash unit super clean and a good clear line from the tank to the gauge then adding new fluid in the dash unit. Getting all of the parts clean is the problem because some of the passages are about the size of 3 hairs!

If it is your tank sending unit you can get it rebuilt by: Jack Marcheski. He rebuilt mine and did a nice job. He is a 36 Auburn phaeton owner and is in the club directory You can reach him at 831-637-3453. If your dash guage is the problem he maybe able to help. Good luck.

Fuel gauge was created by billscheffler
Does anyone have any experience with repairing a non-functioning fuel gauge in our cars? If so, are the problems generally in the gauge or the sending unit or somewhere else? Are there any folks who repair them? Thanks!
