1928 Auburn- a couple of questions was created by buickimc
I recently purchased a 1928 Auburn, and would like to ask a few questions about the vehicle,

The car is a 1928 Auburn Fordor sedan.
Engine Number: 2981110
Chassis Number: WS3756

1. Is this a "matching numbers car" Ie is this the engine the car left the factory with?
2. What is the exact model of this car? I am lead to believe this is a 6-66?
3. My car is missing the timing advance and retard linkages, could someone please post a photo so I can see the path they follow as well as what they look like.
4. How many of the 6-66 and 8-88 where manufactured? and how many have thought to still survive?

Thanks in advance for any help

Nice looking car Brian,
According to the book Auburn Cord Duesenberg by Don Butler, Auburn shipped 13,481 cars in 1928. They made the 6-66A until July 1928, then the model 76 came out. One of the big differences is the engine. The 6-66 had a Continental engine and the 76 had the Lycoming. I am new to Auburns myself, so I am no expert, but the info in this book seems to be pretty good. Good luck with it! -Mike

What a great car! :P Thanks for posting a link to them.

Was that an airplane that I saw next to your Auburn? What year and model is it? Are you restoring it? Are you a pilot?
