Thank you for the tip on installing replacement steps. That seems like a workable option.

I did speak directly with Universal, but not with Longstone, although they only had offset available on their website. But I contact them directly to see if they can offer anything else. Thank you.

Buy the size of tube you need. Cut out the incorrect valve stem. install a replacement stem of the size, type and location you need. Tire shops and farmers have been doing this for 100 years. It is really not that hard. I buy bent nickle valve stems from universal tire. The come with about a 3 inch rubber base for installing on tubes.

What do others do?  This has to be a problem for lots of people...  Do people just cram in 700-19" tubes??

L-29 Cords have the same trouble only 18" tubes. No center valve stems! I had a Firestone engineer take pitty on me years ago and make me six at no charge. But that was when they were still making tubes in the USA.

600/650-17 tubes? was created by wynlaidig
Has anyone purchased tubes for 600/650-17 tires recently?  The only tubes this size that I can find have offset valve stems, but the Auburn rims have center stems.  I can get bent brass center stems, but they are so long they stick outside the tire profile.  I talked to Coker, Universal, and Lucas.  They said the only option is to go to a 19" tube to get a centered rubber valve.  Is there really no other option?
