Just depends is the answer as you may get use to the larger size as I believe that is what is on a V-12

- If you like them then go with it (they also need to fit into your spare tire wells and if you have metal sidemount covers then you have a bear of a problem). When we restored the 31 Phaeton I put on larger sized bedford tires (what a V-12 would have on it) as I did not like the small undersized look of the factory tire on an 8.

For doubles your choice is:
Firestone (with the period correct diamond tread and side of tread pattern), Firestone with a more zig zag and ribbed side of tread pattern (in the smaller size too),
or Bedford brand (if made currently)
(at least I am not aware of any other choice currently).

I ordered a set of 6.00/6.50-17 to replace the 700-17 that were on my 898 when I bought it. HUGE difference (or should I say UN-huge). Plus, these correct tires should relieve unwelcome strain on the wheels and hubs.
They're Firestones and I ordered them through Summit Racing. (I think they got them from Coker.) Took several months but they came through.
I still have the good set of 7.00-17s if anyone wants to buy them.

I appreciate the information.

I definitely wouldn’t have know.n that without help from all of you on these forums.

We’ve always had Cadillacs so the switch to the ACD family has been a bit of a learning curve for our family.

Thanks again.

That’s what I bought.
I was asking about the size.

If you want whitewalls, to be correct they should be white on both sides.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

We’re getting our Auburn ready for our 2nd trip to the ACD reunion this Fall.

We needed new tires and I wanted dual wide white walls. The car currently has 525-550 17’s on it and they look small to me.
The only size I could find in stock ANYWHERE were 700-17’s at Coker.
They were delivered today and they look HUGE.
I’ve been researching this subject and the answers are all over the place.
I’ve got $3,000 tied up in these tires with tax and delivery.
Will they be ok?

Thanks for your input.
We’re newbies to the ACD world but had an awesome time at the reunion last year.
We live in Broken Arrow Oklahoma…….about 5 miles from the ACD Factory.
