Thanks Bill. The attached tage is interesting as I have not seen any reference to a Factory supplied Cord accessory reversing light. They were probably available from other sources via parts supply shops.
I have taken the liberty of making up my own "period look alike". The shell and bezel need some repair work and chrome plating. When finished it should not look out of place but may offend some people.

I received two of these lights along with my 810 & 812 Cords. One, as pictured, came labeled as "Cord accessory back up". The other which is exactly the same is labeled as "unusual back up light". I have no idea what these really are, I have not seen any back up lights listed as accessories in Josh Malks' books. I also do not know how they would mount, I assume to the bumper somehow but I do not have any mounting brackets with the lights.

Hi Terry
I had 2 of these, both NOS. 1 is in the possession of the preeminent Auburn historian and the other is on a car I hope to see at Auburn this year(hint hint)
Don't know if 810-812 Cord had 1 or not.

Pete, very cool. What happened to the car it came with?
Did they ever make one for the 810 Cord?

Today while looking through some old Newsletters I came across the attached article on page 15, 1985 issue No 10.
Stan comments on just how rare the Reversing Light is as he had not seen one.
It's amazing what eventually turns up.

White walls were available in those years. I am unsure if they were dealer installed or the factory supplied them. The white wall was on both sides of the tire.

The color of the car below was said to be 'harbor mist grey' however it is not close to the Acme Proxlin color chips or to a phaeton I had that was harbor mist
grey from the factory; it was a good bit darker.

There's a picture or two floating around the web of a similar green color, but with maybe some grey mixed in. I'll try and find it.

WOW ! ..... you could find that L29 easily on the street or in a parking lot.
The L29s were assembled in Auburn in the building now occupied by the NATMUS Museum.
Where were the Buehrig designed Auburn Speedsters assembled???

Curt I took this picture back in 2015, I assume it's your Auburn.

Curt, I believe you. I was just curious if that what the Swiss Green looked like. We're back and forth on color. Like I'm anywhere near needing to worry about that at this point. Looks great though!

Thanks Matthew ! I mixed it my self, and painted it. (not the pin stripe) I have the formula out in my shop. ........ The factory would paint the car any color you wanted for an extra $35 or so. I have factory documentation. There was an L-29 that was painted bright lavender.

A 1935 and a 1936 851/852 Boattail would be delived with a painted welded spoke wire wheel with a chrome wheel disk cover over the spokes, plus a rim trim ring to hold the wheel disk onto the wheel rim).

Basically, no known factory period photos with a speedster with chrome wire wheels or also without wheel disks (ie. all factory period speedster photos have chrome wheel disks over painted spoke wire wheesls)

Did you get 5 wheel disk and trinm rings (I do not know). Is there such thing as chrome wire wheels (yes, a few rare photos exist of cars new with chrome wires - but no known photos on a speedster) ?

The chrome wheels were adjustable spoke variety, but they did have the technology to chrome a welded spoke wire wheel - I know of a 34 Cadillac V-16 with factory welded spoke chrome whire wheels).

How much oil do you think is leaking out of the Diff, trans and engine on the first car on the truck?

The third Auburn on the first truck also appears to have chromed wire spoke wheels.
The building with the saw tooth roof behind the truck is still there in West 18th Street. The roof line was modified a long time ago.

What makes you think it has a backup light? I see a RH tail light with no chrome horizontal strip which would make it a tail light. You should post a pic of the backup tail light on your car; an almost never seen item!

Look more closely at the second picture which was taken outside the Head Office Building at the Factory in Connersville in 1931. The sedan in the centre appears to have chromed wire spoke wheels.

GREAT photos!
I've seen Ema's factory promo photos of the '31 898 and there are ww on them as well.
My question: none of these photos show chrome spoked wheels. Were they available? How many cars were equipped with them originally?

Curt I did some digging in my collection of period pictures take at the Factory in Connersville. Attached is a selection. I do have a better copy of the assembly line picture that clearly shows white walled tyres on the first Cord.

Whitewalls were available , but not as a ACD factory option. Very early in automotive history the entire tire was white. They turned tan quickly. If my memory serves me , whitewalls first used as a factory option by Chrysler in 1938. Certain tire companys did manufacture white over blackwalls in the early 30's , but very few. I actually have one of those.

Mike, maybe they were in short supply or the new owners were out to save some money. The Depression was still on and in earnest in 1936 from what I have read.
The attached picture was apparently take at the New York Auto Show which I assume was 1936.
