Just curious if you found the frame number and/or acquired the car.

I will disagree with Mike in some regards.  First, though Mike is absolutely correct so that is my agreement part.  My disagreement part is that if you want to bargain into what you are looking at then fine and looks decent enough to purchase "if the price is right".

NOW, HERE IS THE DOWNFALLS:
1. Wood Framework may need extensive repair or replacement
2. Engine blocks crack - some repairable and some not, but given removal and period of time done I can guarantee you it was removed for a reason.
3. These cars are not super popular to restore right now (20 years ago plus was the bulk of the restorations - that means you face additional challenges) - ie Stan Gilliland has the mainstay of the reproduction parts and he just may gladly discuss selling the bulk to another vendor to restart a 1931/1932 parts business.

My humble opinion, find a better "complete" car. If you are going to make a street, resto rod, out of it that is one thing. If your goal is to make it orig. find a complete car. You will be way upside down on this car making it orig. Don't want to burst your bubble but someone has to tell you.
CORDially Mike

The museum may have that data. The value The value is largely determined by the authenticity and the quality of the restoration.

All Auburns had a soft top. They didn't have dies big enough to stamp them.

Is there a registry that would reveal how many 5 passenger Broughams were built or are in the registry? Curious regarding the history, value, etc

4 hinges on the door, lots of wood? I see you added sidemounts. All vinyl tops? or an option in the day? Have been to museum twice...survived the Starlight motel. Absolutely stunning history in the original plant location....showroom is outstanding decor...can't wait to get back for another visit. Thx for photos.

They are indeed original,knock-offs on a splined shaft. Probably dealer installed .

Great looking car! Absolutely stock/original is the way to go. Must ask about the wheels...are they real knock-offs on a splined shaft?

I paid 18G for this all original 61,000 mile 898A coupe, plus many extra fairly rare parts .
Two years and much labor the car below emerged fron my shop. I would try to restore it to original.

Thx Curt...will have another look. The car is a 31 or 32 5 passenger Brougham...it strikes me as an elegant car with its covered top and rear bustle. The site has been helpful in getting a handle on the value of this model which I assume would be fairly valuable........ properly restored. Any guesses on todays value of a similar model?

I assume the dataplate on the passenger side under the floor mat is misssing.
The number is stamped on the outside of the RH frame rail behind the front tire facing you. A pix of the diff. will tell if it is a Dual Ratio .

1931/32 Auburn was created by Tarson
Have an opportunity to purchase a 31 Auburn 2 dr, sedan. The Lycoming engine is removed and is an 8 cylinder. Where is the VIN for this car located as the owner has no idea? Many cars have them at the frame at the steering box. Also trying to find whether it is a 31 or 32. Yes its been hot rodded with a small block and power glide. Does this car have the 2 speed rear end...any ideas about value?

thx
