Photos of original cars are great, but even better are factory photos of the cars new. Many photos of 8-98 Auburns available from ACD museum, including good photo of the engine, and different body styles. Get also their reprints of factory literature, great stuff for determining authenticity, and for working on your car.

Hi from NZ where I am enjoying a 98/8 A Phaeton that I brought here from Tennessee. It would be good to have a copy of the book as have acquired some good documents but this would be great to read and hold with the car.
So do you still have it or has it been passed on ?

Best regards

Hello John, I think you are correct as there is no way a vacuum tank will work in the horizontal position, pretty clever modification though as the windscreen wipers might stay at a constant speed for longer when you put your foot down on hills.

I would not call that a vacuum tank hanging on the cowl to radiator support, but I would call it a vacuum reservoir - they are most likely trying to capture vacuum for better operation of the windshield wiper or for operation of a Columbia 2 speed rear axle

Original. Got one from Ema only to discover I already had one. This is my first one; has "Office Copy" in pencil on the front. Otherwise very good to excellent condition. Thanks

Is the document you have for sale 91 years oud or is a reprint ?

I have an extra copy of this great book printed by Auburn Automobile Co. explaining the features and innovations of the new 1931 8-98. 40 pages.
Asking what I paid for it: $120.

Your motor looks amazing thanks for the pictures. Looks like I need to find original carburetor. Mine has bb1 carburetor with air cleaner and a big vacuum tank mounted on radiator support rods.

For the original color, look under the dash. The original owner may be lost to history unless you recieved documentation when you bought the car.
Restoring the car to original the way it sat on the showroom floor
after dealer prep is the way to go. I have a 8-98a coupe fully restored and a very low mile all original 8-100a that I would never restore. 1931 & 1932 are very similar.

Any info at all. What color original was. Who originally purchased car. How it looked when it was made. Want to restore it to original as I can. Thanks
