I second that motion !

Yes, I drill about a 1/16 hole in the thermostat so to allow fluid to a degree to bypass the thermostat to prevent air pocketing (which air pocketing can be harmful to an engine).

We had a really good engine mechanic that specialized in CCCA cars (among a few other mechanics also recomeding) who recommended and turns out a really good idea.

John, do you drill a small hole in the thermostat as an air bleed to the radiator tank?

It should fit in the relief in the head. Yes gasket , not rubber.

Should it have play? Or fit snug? Does it require rubber gasket fo snug fit?
