I torque it cold after a few heat up, cool down cycles.

Hello Curt
Thank you for your fast answer. i it better to retorque if engine is warm or do you recommend to do the job at cold engine?
Thank you so much.
It is more or less impossible to get reliable informations here in germany, because there ar only a few cars in germany. I think that my 851 is the only Auburn in germany that is used weekly (as long as weather is dry!)

I think that after a few heating and cooling cycles the head should be retorqued.

Hello Curt
Thank you for your help. Thans to your information the car is back on the road. Th guy in the workshop wants to know wether it is useful to check torque again once engine is warm. He is not 100% shure wether this check is useful or if it may cause damage to the aluminium head.
For your information: The engine has been rebuild 2 years ago by a dutch specialist but we had the idea that the head bolts were not really tight. We think that the not correct tightend screws were the reason for the problem.
Thank you for your ideas.

Start tightning in the center and work tward the ends. do it in three stages . I torque to 45 pounds. All head bolts have a 'W' on the head.

Good morning all together!
Currently i have to replace the cylinder head gasket on my 1935 Auburn 851. The car poduced lots of white steam.
I have found a company in Vienna that produces a new gasket according to the sample i sent. Now i need some informations about correct torque of cylinder head bolts. Do we have to tighten the screws in a certain order?
Thank you for any information.
