Interesting. Would leaving the electric pump on all the time it's running make a difference in how it drives? I just now found the switch and it is on when the ignition is on but can be turned off. I've sold the car but want to tell the new owner how to properly do it. Thanks!

I have the correct Airtex pumps available they were purchased from a reliable source back in 2017. I have seven Auburns and have Airtex pumps installed on all of them.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Warning, Airtex has not made fuel pumps since 2020. The pumps you see on ebay that say they are airtex 2 to 4.5 lbs are not . The picture they are using on there ads is not what you get. I have ordered one from amazon, not airtex or what is pictured. That was easy to return. The next vender I asked if what I would get was exactly as in the picture and was assured it was. Same pump I got from Amazon except this took me 17 emails and three weeks to get my money back.

That is just fine. You will want to switch the pump off with the ignition switch,
otherwise , you will forget to turn it off. I run the electric pump thru the original Fuel Pump.

Thanks for the feedback.
I do have both a regulator and electric pump. What should the regulator be set at? Currently it is at 3.5.

Plus Plus Plus for the electric pump, but low pressure is also a key (or installation of a regulator) - I think on many of the cars I have an Airtex 6 VOLT FUEL PUMP LOW PRESSURE PRIMER PUMP OR FUEL PUMP 2.5psi-4psi

Plus 1 for the electric fuel pump. Hide it up under the car on the frame over by the battery.

I agree, lack of fuel for some reason. I had this problem last week with a car. Piece of crap in main jet. Do you have a electric pump? Fuel filter? If you have a mechanical pump make sure the diaphragm isn't failing and putting fuel in crankcase.

If this is the correct
Carb I would check the high speed circuit setup. It’s kind
Of different. Does it blow
Black smoke when this happens? If not it’s more a lean condition by your description. Fuel
Pump maybe failing and need to be rebuilt. I have a V12 where the pump was rebuilt but I believe the cam lobe may be worn and not giving it full stroke.
If I hit the electric pump it will
Really go.

Sounds like a fuel problem, sediment bowl screen, pump, tank pickup, etc

I'm having trouble with my 36 852 Cabriolet losing gas pedal response on the freeway at 50+ mph. It starts jerking, slowing, backfiring. It runs like a champ at lower speeds in all gears. Once I stop and start again, it runs great until I hit the 50+, especially if climbing a hill.

I have no idea where to start looking.

Ideas?
