On the 34's it was used for the control beam headlights.

I believe you are referring to the switch for the lights in the gauges and interior dash light.

What is the proper function of the bat-handle switch that is mounted on the dash between the top of the tachometer and the top of the speedometer? Mine is not connected to anything. My switch, which may be incorrect, has 3 positions: Up to control "Load A", Center off, and Down to control "Load B".
