WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ANDREW WITH DOOR HINGES (followed by the window winder mechanisms that probably only fit Cabriolet and phaeton) - THEY ARE THE MOST DIFFICULT ITEM ON HIS LIST !!!

Andrew, a cylinder hone and some oil on the hone pads and cylinder (repeat a few times verses spinning rust everywhere) will clean up anything purely cosmetic in rust, but from that point you need to make the decision if you are just putting it back together or if you are going to bore and go with a oversized piston (most of us are running Aries Pistons from LA, CA in our 850/851/852 cars).

As to water jacket rust - go with say Evaporust or even vinegar (just cap all the large openings and let it sit for a few days). For scale rust you probably need to pick at it with something sharp and then repeat Evaporust. If you "boil" block out then you have to remove the bearings (but having had 8-90's I would say everything is poured babbit so boiling block would just destroy all the bearings - leading to probably a lot of extra cost).

Thank you so much Randy. Would you know the code or where to buy the paint so that it is the correct shade and heat resistant?

I have a beautiful re-chromed radiator shell. I think, 28 and 29 are the same.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Hello ACD friends. Last year I was lucky enough to buy my first Auburn. It was previously a parts car that has been apart since the 1970'sand placed in a cut up camper. I am looking for parts to help complete this amazing project. Over this last year I have found a lot of them but there are a couple big items I have not been able to find. Some are the top of the hood, radiator shell, all the door handles, door latches, window cranks and mechanisms, fan blades, and door hinges. If anyone knows someone or if they have any of these parts please let me know so we can work something out.

My first major question is having to deal with the the engine. The engine was taken apart in the 1970's and has dirt and grim along with a small amount of rust on the cylinders. How do I remove that rust and still keep the right size for the rings? I also am wondering weather to paint the engine the green or tan? I have heard many different people telling me to paint it green and many say tan. Which is the right color and what is the paint codes for the tan and green color?
