No, Mike : I took a few days to do it, but I welded end pieces onto the new runningboards and bolted them in place. Not an easy project, but satisfying results.

Building runningboard for the truck, using a 5ft length of 2.25 pipe and sheet metal. Welded together makes a nice part.

Years ago, I was going to take a run at that 34. Turns out, he was way to proud of it .
I had a vision of restoring it externally and a large Cummins for power

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Pete the name is CORBITT trucks. They were made in North Carolina and are quite rare today. I found a picture on the internet which is attached. The front end is definitely 1934 Auburn material.
On the subject of trucks my father had a couple of mid 1930's INDIANA trucks here in Australia. As a little boy I was fascinated to hear the name INDIANA, little did I know how the future would turn out.

For the new people or the old guys that can't remember(like me) there was a company that manufactured trucks using the front end of an Auburn. Not sure but the name could have been CORBIN. Someone with computer smarts could probably find a pic of 1. I seem to recall a pic in the newsletter sometime in the last 50+ years.

The proportions of the truck look excellent. Well done. It takes care to assemble something that looks right, as if the manufacturer did it and I think you have definitely achieved that. I particularly like how well you have shaped the roof into the back panel with the rear window.....the shape is just right. Well done.
I have a friend that did a similar thing with a Bentley MkVI which was largely junk and he made a really interesting looking truck out of it. Unfortunately his truck bed was not as nice and integrated as yours. His creation was always a hit at car shows and I'm sure yours will be as well.

Congratulations and keep showing us photos as the project moves forward.

Yeah, the belt molding was a little project in itself. I cut the hood molding and moved it down to join the 36 belt line.

I like it !!!

You could have some crazy fun with the belt molding from the 1934 hood ?

Thoughts about a rear window from a sedan ?

I had a bunch of spare Auburn parts lying around and decided to build this truck. Started with a nice front clip from a 34 sedan and a front portion (firewall, windshield, dash, etc from a rusted-out 36 sedan. Also, used a spare frame, engine and differential from various Auburn "junks". Welded the back half of a 37 Chevy pickup truck to the firewall assembly and fit two sedan doors in place. Also found the pickup bed (from an unknown early truck) that I found on EBay. The rear fenders are from a sedan that were close to being non-salvageable, but I managed to cobble them back into shape and weld-on new flanges so that they would fit onto the bed. Lycoming engine is currently being rebuilt by the Cek family.
