We don't have novelty number plate manufacturers in Australia, technically we are only allowed to have the current number plates on any vehicle however I have not been stopped from displaying the 1936 Canadian plates as an extra. Perhaps they have been mesmerised by the Cord's appearance?

I made up a number plate topper which cost around $35 for the engraving and aluminium. I had to finish hand shaping it, painting the letters and drilling the holes.
As my Cord was originally sold in Canada I managed to get a set of period plates from a collector for $120 including postage.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make contact with persons on this message board. If I can't make it work, I'll put it up on the Southern California Inland Empire Craigslist later today for contacts. The couple people here along with other folks I've talked to in the car world seem to think a few of these were used on cars for the 1932 Chicago and new York Auto shows and any others around the country. If you are in Southern California by any chance, let me know.

Please, I have 5 classic cars myself, I know there are no dummies on this forum. This is where the Auburn guys are, so that's where I put the plate. I know you are all a bunch of smart Auburn collectors and restoration buffs, and I have no misconceptions about you not knowing the value of things. All I did is make the darn thing available to you and all I get on this site is a bunch of attitude. Is this how Auburn guys are? Please, if you don't want it, leave it alone already.

All kidding aside, it would be interesting to know the history. Is it actually from Auburn, In? There are over 30 cities in the US with the name Auburn, could it been an advertising campaign from one of these cities?
The original poster can ask anything he wants for his plate, but to post it the way he did makes it like we are all unsuspecting saps in my opinion. And his reasoning, because Auburns are an expensive vehicle and because you have a million dollar speedster you need to have a 10k vanity plate, give me a break. Once again, just my opinion. And like they say, their is an ass for every seat.

I think I saw it at Auburn on a car but it could be in my shop.

If you want it, contact me. Auburns are rare high dollar cars, this is a rare piece, and there is an opportunity to put it on a high end vehicle as a finishing touch.
