It's possible that it is a 6 cylinder wheel since the bolt circle of the mounting bolts is slightly smaller (5.5 for 8 and 5 for 6).

36 Auburn rim question was created by ilikescars
I was attempting to mount some rims & tires onto an Auburn project. Three of the rims fit perfectly but one did not fit. I measured the center bore on the non-fitting rim and found it to be approx 3 3/8" diameter. The fitting rims measured 3 3/4". The non-fitting rim appeared to be exactly the same steel spoke rim. Could it be for a 6 cyl car? I've never seen this before...
