The piece at the 2-3 o'clock position that is hard to find

When you say contact piece, are you talking about the stud with contact. If so I can send you some.

Hi, Paul: Just so you know, the Auburn distributor has weights that are just the opposite of Cord. As you look at them, they should have the shape of the number "69" . If not, they are Cord.

Great advice. Thank you. I’m wondering if I’m missing a retaining clip that fits on shaft and holds cam down. Perhaps a felt washer as well? Any one have a picture? Curt in terms of points, I bought one from Napa and Pete gave me a bunch for the other side. But he did not have the contact piece. Was just planning on cleaning it. Thx.

I have both sets of points and NOS caps. Good advice above.

The pin on the gear can be very hard to remove. Unless bushings are bad leave it alone. Clean the shaft area by removing the grease cup and cleaning through there. Just worked on one for a friend with hardened grease in the grease cup and was able to clean it in this manner with out removing the gear. His turned hard also.

Take pictures with your phone as its taken apart. It really helps you when putting things back together. Remove the top plate by the two screws. Lift off. Then if you need to remove the internal shaft yes, That pin needs to be pushed out at the bottom. To remove the weights you need to remove a small internal snap ring in the top opening where the rotor covers when in place. Watch for washers in the bottom area too. You might be able to purchase any worn parts from Curt or Stan too. I have restored a couple for my 37 Cord and they are nearly the same. Just do a search in the 810 812 forum under 1748 S

Thank you Auburn society, I was able to find a distributor! Questions: it turns pretty hard, so we are planning to take it apart and clean and lube. Looks like a pressed in pin needs to come out on the bottom of distributor. Any advice on refurbishing this unit?

Thank you
