Anything is possible Mike. The World's Fastest Indian was on it's side across the Pacific. Hopefully back in the day the shipping people took a bit more care and strapped the crates down in the hold. Maybe they just packed them in tightly? .Finding the picture and connecting it with the Factory was the focus for me. I suppose Cords were shipped out the same way.

This amazing picture comes from ACD Club member Christopher Friend's web site Connersville Built Cars.
It shows the rail car loading area for Auburn cars destined for overseas distributors. The crane which was located at the western end of the plant is shown in the artist's impression of the plant circa 1929.
They must have used a heck of a lot of wood to crate to crate each car. From the loading area they were shipped all over the world.
