Have you noticed the engine running hotter than normal? I know its air cooled but sometimes the belt will loosen up.Then it slips so the fan is not pulling all the air for cooling. The design on this belt is very suspect. It is not running "normally thru the pulleys. It has to twist coming off the crank at the change of direction before it reaches the fan on top of the flat 6 engines. Might even change the belt just because it may not have been changed in a long time. V belts can look fine but are well worn out.

If I were you, I would post this question out on the AACA web site in the 'technical' forum' I would include pix of the engine as it sits in the car.

Ca you tell the forum what engine is in this car? I know of three possible engines. Ford, Chevy or Covair.

8/10 Vapor Lock was created by pneflyer
I purchased #42 8/10 and I am having a vapor lock problem. The car was idle for 20+ years. The gas tank was completely reconditioned with a new coating. I replaced the fuel pump and put new insulator spacers and gaskets between the carbs and the manifolds. The only thing left in my bag of tricks would be to reroute the fuel lines and insulate them. Short of putting a big propeller on the front to force air into the engine compartment, I am open to suggestions. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Mitch
