I am not a 28-30 guy, but that is one hell-of-a fooler

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Pat one of the Auburn owners out here built his own cabriolet body. He was a house builder by trade but could turn his hand to almost anything. He even made his own English wheeling machine before starting work on the body. I believe what he started with was a very rough and rusty bodyless Auburn. He did a wonderful job. No doubt yours will be a Dusie.

Pat many years ago I came to the conclusion that everybody is mad but some are madder than the rest.
Disregard your friends comments and get on with it.
Terry.

Hi Terry,
I figured I needed a challenge, my friends think I'm nuts, maybe that's it. I like the Duesy speedsters, in particular the Weymann body Tapertail. I believe the Whittle speedster was also built by Weymann and called the Fish tail. I maybe mistaken, others may know more. I prefer the short wheelbase over the long wheelbase on the speedsters, I like the proportions better. With that said, I decided to mimic (replicate with liberties) the Tapertail, 2450 J-437. Thanks for the kind words. Pat

Hi Pat, I take my hat off to you. What a wonderful project to take on. Just trying to restore an ACD car is a big enough challenge let along building a new body.
What will it look like when finished? It looks different to the Whittle Speedster which is one of the most spectacular cars ever created.
Good luck with the project.
Regards,
Terry Cockerell,
Australia.

Thanks Jerome. I will be shaping the metal, using 19 gauge steel. As for the hood, I will be using the original Duesenberg 4 piece hood, I posted pictures in an earlier post when I started to do the restoration on it. Hopefully, I can stay focused on the build and move forward. Thanks again for the kind words. Pat

Looks fantastic Pat. Are you shaping the metal yourself? Will it be a two piece hood with leaves that fold in the middle? I think we will all be very interested how that’s all done. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful ambitious project. I’m sure it will be spectacular in the end. Regards JEROME

I thought I would share some more pictures of my speedster build. The wood framework is just about finished, need to do some final fitting and sanding. Hope to start shaping metal in the very near future. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Pat
