A google search revealed these interesting Ab Jenkins sites, there are many more not listed!

www.byu.edu/moa/education/cars/jenkins.htm
www.barracudamagazine.com/mormonmeteorIII.htm
motorsports.sae.org/articles/guest/abjenkins.htm

It mentions Meteor III, found outside in a carwash vandalized, the story continues. Also that the the Bonneville car was named in honor of him.
His full name is David Abbot Jenkins.

The Meteor was initially SJ powered, then changed to a Curtiss aero engine for more speed. It was returned to SJ power when the speed runs were done and Ab used it on the street.

<some info culled from late1930?s document>

Ab Jenkins is motor racing ace of the United States. He held many world distance records; one day early in Sept., 1937, he broke nine records and before the month was out; fourteen more, his successes ranging from 50 kilometers to 24 hrs.

Most of his spectacular success was achieved on Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, with a car, which, not inappropriately, he called Mormon Meteor. In 1939 he intends to try for the land speed record, Held by Capt. G. E. T. Eyston with 357.5 m. p. h.

Readers online question>

I was under the impression that the Morman Meteor was a Duesenberg powered car??? Is this not the same car that sold at Pebble for a lot of money??

"Morman Meteor" was created by balinwire
During a 24-hour run on the Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, Morman Meteor, driven by an American, Ab Jenkins, averaged 157.27 m.p.h. thus beating 14 World long distance records and 115 class records. The car was equipped with a 12- cylinder air-cooled engine of 725 h.p. and weighed 2 1/2 tons.Streamlining was obtained by cowling, but apart from the tiny cowl in front of the drivers face, there was very little protection and Jenkins had to wear a very tight-fitting helmet to prevent the wind from "clawing". Ab Jenkins was credited with very valuable knowledge of the dried up lake at Bonneville, still regarded as the Worlds premier speed track. He was usually on the spot to challenge any British driver who tried to beat his long-distance records.
