If the Cord gets in the way of one of Mars's moons, does it make a Moonshadow?

:P

Good effects. Better than some of the artwork that I have seen at some of the big car shows and auctions.

Keep it up! New career for you.

Chris, go to the modified picture and right click on it. it will show a menu and roll your mouse over the, "set as background" is highlighted and click, this will make the image of the blue car your desktop screen and it looks really cool.

I know. But I'd much rather see a blowtorched Checker than a blowtorched 812...

The Checker was ACD-related! Cord Corporation owned Checker Cab for a few years, although it was before this model was produced.

We've got to stop letting Evelyn take a blow torch to these Checkers. I think Jim has bought her 4 of them now. It is unnerving to see what she puts them through.

Oh and by the way, you gotta bring the hat to Auburn!!

Thanks Mike, the hat is actually made up entirely out of beer cartons and bottle caps. Proceeds go to support the Beer Can House which is also part of this whole wacky community. www.beercanhouse.org/

If you look closely, my choker is made up entirely of beer can tabs.

I will bring the hat to Auburn, and I will wear it to Friday night's Ninth Street activities, but I don't think it is appropriate during the parade!

Yes you will need to come down and attend a show. Some of the cars have been directly influenced by Gordon Buehrig's Evil Twin!! This car is more interesting than some replicas I've seen.

Each year after the Art Car Parade, we join the artists during their Illumination Cruise. Cars that light up or emit flames go on an unofficial tour around Houston.

Club member, Jim Fasnacht's wife, Evelyn, was participating with her Cabernet Cab which is quite dramatic at night. All of the grapes light up and it is a wonderful sight to see.

Since I was not riding in the car with her this year, Shelli and the rest of my family left around 10pm as the cars left for their annual cruise around Houston. The accident happend after midnight when all the cars returned.

I know exactly where the accident happened and it is mind boggling that someone could be driving so fast that they could cross the railroad tracks 75 yards away, and then hit a car that catapults into the victims. The accident happened on the street right behind the "Evil Cord" in the next message.

My prayers are with this man and his family. It is a tragic ending to what was a wonderful weekend.

Don't they always...

Sunday night after the art car weekend was winding down a drunk driver killed Tom Jones the curator of the art car museum. This happened immediately in front of the art car museum on Heights Boulevard. I didn't know Tom, but over the years I crossed paths with a number of the art car people in search of Corvair parts.

I don't have words to express how tragic and said I find this to be. Read the sad story here.

Thanks for sharing...that show has intrigued me for years, will have to make it down some day. I don't think they were doing it in the early eighties when we lived in Houston.

Oh and by the way, you gotta bring the hat to Auburn!!

Is your hat made out of Beer Cans? <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

In Vietnam they make baseball caps out of Pepsi / Coke cans.

ACD MEMBERS AT THE HOUSTON ART CAR PARADE - 2008 was created by Picture Gallery
The ACD Club was represented at this year's Houston Art Car Parade by three members who would rather remain anonymous.
However they have been identified ... from Left to Right:

Club Member & Uber Collector: Ritch Atwell
Webmaster & Club Board Member: Bill Hummel
Club Member & 2005 Best of Show Winner: Jim Fasnacht

There were over 250 cars. Here are two of them. These are working, running cars!

Jim's wife Evelyn entered her car this year ... The Cabernet Cab

Can you spot the ACD-related car underneath the grapes?
