Hi Garry: i would take a lot of shorter trips before venturing out on a major trip. Slowly take longer trips; do a lot of shifting, braking, and steering.
Join triple A!! Take the extended coverage. If you have a problem on the road, request a tilt bed trailer.
It took me quite awhile to gain confidence in the car, and confidence in myself. I was picked up by triple A a couple of times; close to my shop. I drove the Cord Convoy in 2011 from Denver; just completed an 850 mile Caravan with CCCA. It can be done.
Good luck. Tim.

I am about to put my Cord on the road-still lots of tinkering to do-but will have to shake it out. How about a few suggestions based on your collective road experiences: What do I pack for running spares and tools? Let'
s assume they have to fit in the tool box or in tuck away places. What have you been caught without on a trip? I have the grease gun, plug and wheel sockets......???
