I've got an un-restored car that would win the prize for the nastiest relic.
Maybe we should establish that class!
I'll put a sign on it that reads: LOOK BUT DON'T TOUCH!
(You're liable to get an infection from the rust)
Worse than mine?

Curt: You should drag that sedan out of the shrubbery behind your garage.

When I brought the idea up at the meeting, I said, "Drive it, haul it, drag it, just bring it." That's my advice to all owners of unrestored cars. Just get it to Auburn! We want to see it, no matter what state it is in.
Also, this will also bring you Preservation Class owners' cars out of the back of the pack, if only for one year. I'm also hopeful that the cars that show up will be able to show off new, previously unseen details to those of you working on judging standards and the Restoration Manual project.

As the owner of an unrestored--SERIOUSLY unrestored car, a trailer queen in the rough, a disassembled classic, a 62 year (so far) restoration/rebuilding project, and general you name it, I am EXTREMELY pleased and proud of the 2012 Year of the Unrestored Car designation! The Old Lady and I will make it to Auburn for sure!
Congratulations to Chris and the BOD for this innovative and imaginative theme!

THE YEAR OF THE UNRESTORED CAR
This has never been done before. The idea came from Chris Summers. Your Board of Directors approved the Year Of the Unrestored Car to acknowledge just how important this class of cars is.
We are all interested in seeing what John Souder comes up with for a Festival poster idea. He is already working on a concept.
