Agreed - I'm 99% sure that is the DeKalb County Courthouse and I recognize the old bank building in the background.

Did they ever hold gatherings of this type in Connersville?

There were a series of well-attended Connersville meets. Past President Jim Robinson, who lives there, was involved. They started in 1974 and continued into the 1990s.

Definitely Auburn. The Tremulis' had probably been to so many meets that it may have looked like Connersville on the slide without looking closer.

That's positively the courthouse in the background. From Google maps:



Here's another. It looks like the white 1953 or '54 Oldsmobile ran a red light?!?:



...and from Google, the Hotel/Cafe is still there! Also note that the banner on the Hotel is for the ACD Meet (2009?).

Why don't you come to Auburn sometime, Steve? Family of ACD employees are always honored company. I think you'd enjoy it. The town has changed in the decades since those pictures were taken but most of the landmarks are still intact. The square honestly doesn't look all that different.
