Looks like the MMO could help prevent/ unstick stuck valves.

Think it'll be a good idea to change oil frequently while using it too.

I recall we coated the inside of the engine block with an epoxy paint during last teardown, and suspect the MMO could melt the epoxy, gumming up the bearings, etc.

As to the solvent factor, an FBO I worked for (as an airport bum) a few years back, used a 50/50 blend of WD40 and MMO in spray bottles to loosen things. Worked real well.

I run a salvage yard and use Marvel mystry oil to loosen just about everything. Works really well with locked up items such as manifold bolts or door hinges.

I was taught by professional mechanics to use MMO in my air tools once a day. Three or four drops down the air coupling, then gun the tool to blow out any excess...

I've only ever had two air tools go bad, one of them was a frankly cheap die grinder that I ran to death, the other was a ratchet that broke the head mechanism while taking off a crankshaft nut. Both still had good motors in them...

We have use Marvel for twenty years on the antiques. In the beginning, we would put it in the oil and run the cars before storing them. When leaded gas disappeared, we started adding a bottle every third tank of low octane fuel. This would add enough residual lubricant to the valves, gaskets, diaphrams, and fuel systems to make up for the no-lead. Motor oil or diesel in small quantities will work in a pinch. I can't guaranty that it actually works, but I have engines that were restored over 30 years that are still running....

I put the recommended 4 oz in the tank when I fill up. Hoping it cuts down the possibility of vapor lock. Car hasn't done this in a long time, tho it likely has nothing to do with MMO. Our old VW Cabriolet which was stored winters used to have a couple of lifters stick each spring. I can confirm that a few oz of MMO always cured that and almost instantly.

This product has 33 reasons to use it listed on the back of the bottle; I've heard it endorsed by several people at the Auburn meet; If you've used it with identifiable success, what did it do for you? (No opinions or second-hand rumors, please.)

Thanks, CBS <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->
