Why are my tires turning brown?

[i:1m5fi8sy]Your tires look terrible and, unfortunately I don't have an answer for you on why this has occurred. I will have replacements to you within 10 days. Leaching of the chemicals from the tire's black would discolor the entire sidewall and not just the outside edge. I am at a loss. Lab analysis of the old tires will help.
How many tires do you have with this problem? Let me know asap so that I can begin building the replacements.
Let's replace them all five tires. The beauty bar is $10 per tire making the total $50. The tires will be to you in 10 days. Again, I apologize for the inconvience!
Once the replacement tires are on the car and you are ready to send back the old tires, just call me or send me an email. I will either mail or issue UPS call tags and they will come get the old tires when you are ready. Easy as that! I have an American Express on file for you. Would you like for me to charge the beauty bar to that?[/i:1m5fi8sy]
Sounds like they are standing behind their tires. No charge for shipping either way. I wanted the Beauty Bars on my tires so now I can get them. I would have had to pay for mounting the new tires anyway, so I am not out anything. Kudos to Diamondback Classics for immediately addressing the problem. No questions asked. These things do happen. It's nice to have a manufacturer resolving the problem so painlessly!

Diamond Backs are made by scuffing off the raised lettering of a blackwall tire, then applying white rubber and vulcanizing it. The rubber coating is comparatively thin. Vulcanization makes it cling tightly --- I haven't heard reports of the whitewall separating from the tire. But clearly there is a problem of the carbon black bleeding through the white rubber. Diamond Back now talks about a new process involving three layers in the whitewall to solve this problem, but only time will tell.
In the meantime, as everyone says, even full replacement costs us $400-500 !

If you want DUB/Pebble Beach/Show Car tires try brake fluid rubbed on with a towel, and it's actually good for the rubber, at least in theory. Haven't tried it on the white wall ever for fear of some kind of saturation effect that could cause absorption of road dust or atmospheric breathing.
I use Comet cleanser on the WWWs but always worry about wheel bead corrosion that might be occurring because of the alkalinity of the cleanser.
Anybody out there with Firestone Gum Dipped or Goodyears that are a few years old?

Even if they tell me to send them back, I am out a lot of money for shipping and dismounting/mounting the tires. It could be as much as $400.00 even if they do swap them out.

Sorry I couldn't help myself.
My old tires did the same thing. I found if I let them go for a while they faded to a nice shade of Palm Beach Tan to match my car.
