Hello,

I found some notes about that car and the engine colour by the proud owner (since 1954!)

A nice contrast like the Brunn CS also shown here.
In 1951,I helped Raydon "Don"Thompson paint the engine in J487 red. It was called "International Harvester"red and it looked good. Keith Brown had a restyled sedan that had a red head and a green block and he said that years before,it had a valve job done and the head was painted then. Later I refinished J528 while waiting for the Jahn's pistons to arrive and the crankshaft to be refurbished. It was green, both block and head.
There was a block and crankshaft that had been laying around in a storage area we had in the garage that had been a light blue and had a lot of rust behind the water plates and it was thought to have been used as a boat engine in salt water.I have no idea as to any number on the bell housing or crankshaft because none of us cared one way or the other at the time about "J"numbers. It was YEARS later that I asked about these numbers and got all the answers.

If my memory is correct (and I can no longer rely on that) I seem to remember reading that the engine in this car was rebuilt in the 1950's and the red was selected at that time.

The red engine makes it go faster ? Curious to know if that was something someone ordered or if just repainted at a later date ?

I like the black on black on black. Is that an original blower with later ram's horns?
