One thing is certain. If there had been no Mayatg or Mason, there would never have been an "A"or an "X" .
E.L.Cord would have had to find another speed merchant to facilitate his desire for a car "like no other".
I have heard it said that Fred was the dreamer and Augie made things work. Fred was cut short and after a time,Augie picked up the banner. It was under Augie's direction that the Duesenberg Special set all those records in 1935 so it appears he had some ideas on how to make the SJ into a real performer that was "street useful" as well as a record steer.
We hope all on the forum had a good Christmas or Holiday.

Click-on bottom page links to see car & truck models & engine configuration.

I will get all you Model "J" fans interested in Fred &amp; Augie's earlier automotive history if it's the very last thing I do here! <!-- s;-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;-) -->

Brad, thanks for adding the link.

I can't tell for certain, even with the larger photo. Our 2009 Reunion Book's article on Masons and Maytags by George Hess features several photos of the Duesenbergs at younger age. I'm inclined to believe that it is the brothers but not willing to bet on it.

These are not technically Duesenbergs, but Masons and Maytags with Duesenberg-designed engines. As with Rochester-Duesenbergs, they don't really fall into my line of study as the As and Js do.

Fred &amp; Augie &amp; Mason Auto ? was created by silverghost
Over on the AACA Forum site there is now a new post thread listed under Mason Duesenberg~~~
The poster is asking the question if the two young men pictured on the rare early Mason Auto might be Fred &amp; Augie Duesenberg ?

Have a look for yourself !

forums.aaca.org/f169/vintage-mas ... 94922.html

What exactly was the Duesenberg Brothers connection to the Mason auto brand ?

Do you think that the two young men in the Mason auto photo are in fact Fred &amp; Augie Duesenberg ?
The two fellows in the photo sure look like they are brothers~~~

Are they Fred &amp; Augie Duesenberg ?~~~
I will let the Forum decide !

Has anyone here on this forum seen this photo before ?
