The Crosley radio in the Kleptz' Judkins Duesenberg (J-354) was added during restoration.

I suppose the obvious question would be why one needed a 16mm movie camera inside a car...lol

According to a newpaper article from the November 15th, 1933 Beaumont, TX [i:2vg45jvo]Enterprise[/i:2vg45jvo] the Yount Duesenberg Judkins Berline (# unknown) had a radio, and was also equipped with a 16mm movie camera. However, this same article is so riddled with other errors that it can be taken for historically acurate.

+ J-259, a Murphy Convertible Berline built for the president of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, has a radio in the divider window housing.

+ J-354, one of two Judkins Victoria Coupes built, was equipped with a Crosley radio that occupies about half of the rear seat--what amounts to a home radio unit inside a car.

+ J-544, the Bohman & Schwartz Convertible Sedan built for Bob Topping, has a radio, although I'm not sure of its location in the car.

Josh Malks's Duesenberg book has a photo of the interior of a Willoughby Limousine equipped with a radio in the divider, similar to J-259. I'm sure there are other cars as well.

In the 30's radio was coming into it's own. Were any Duesenbergs equipped with radios? If so, were they mounted under the dash?
