The famous "Hot Rod Harry Duesenberg" SJ-528 a Supercharged SJ Riviera Phaeton and J-187 a 1929 Murphy Model J Clear Vision Sedan are being exhibited at The Mildred Invitational (at Hot Summer Nites) in Beaumont, Texas August 11-13, 2006.

Hot Summer Nites is an open car show held in downtown Beaumont at The Crockett St Entertainment complex. 2006 regsitrations are expected to top 400.

This portion of the event is being held 1/2 mile away at the National Register Landmark 1929 Mildred Building built by oil man and Duesenberg owner Miles Frank Yount and named for his beloved only child Mildred Frank Yount. These two cars, and eight others are being displayed in the buildings original parking garage. This exhibit is being billed as a multi-million dollar display of classic cars.

Covered exhibit space for twenty additional cars is being made available to owners of select pre-WWII cars. Peoples choice trophies will be awared and period costume encouraged.

This event is a joint fund raiser for the Garth House children's advocay program and The Mildred Preservation Fund. Ironically the building that now houses The Garth House was moved from The Mildred site in 1928 to make way for the new multi-million dollar shopping and apartment-hotel complex.

A petroliana exhibit and live steam exhibition will compliment presentations by local artists, muscians, and writers. Bluebonnet Farms will showcase their world famous Saddlebred Horses. Other vendors complimentary to the property and general histroical theme will offer their wares.

Both cars are owned by noted Houston car collector John O'Quinn and his O'Quinns Classy Classic Cars. J-187 was voted Peoples Choice Winner at the recent Keel and Wheels Concours in Nassau Bay, Texas. The Hot Rod Harry Duesenberg has been written about numerous times, and is familiar to subscribers of this form.

Complete information will be posted under the events sections of this forum shortly and an event web site is forthcoming. Call Greg Riley for more information or if you wish to exhibit. 281-593-2502 or e-mail <a href="mailto:[email protected]][email protected][/url]

I have the privilege of photographing these two cars and seeing the entire 600+ O'Quinn car collection today. These are truly two spectacular Duesenbergs.
