While at the auction, amongst many other pictures were some of Fred's Indianapolis home. I got the impression it's where he lived at the time of his death. As I recall, it was a brick two story colonial type house. Nice looking place. I wonder if it's the one at the above address??? It seems odd that they used a house address for "Duesenberg Bros" stationary. Maybe it was before they set up the plant??

I'm not that impressed, either...I tried to find the Sarasota Classic Car Museum (just for kicks--I've been there before) and I found a curb.

Just make a coment on this I have used the google earth and I am not all that impressed with its accuracy, I tried it on the Dallas Packard Dealer address and it was correct only because the parking lot was still a parking lot four years after it had been photographed. The date was still on the it. 2002 at the time I checked. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, must have mistyped something on Google Earth. Either that or it screwed up (latter more likely, since I double-checked).

So "Fall Creek" could be a "missing link"? Or maybe there were Duesenberg Brothers on the other side of town with a vegetable stand or shoe store or....

Not the slightest clue. Those addresses I gave were the only ones I could turn up in the books I have (don't have the Roe or Elbert books).

I pulled out the Duesenberg letterhead stationary and here's what I have. The earlier edition is quite simple. The only printing at the tops reads,"Duesenberg Bros. 3290 Fall Creek Blvd. Indianapolis, Indiana." Per the earlier posts on here, the plant was on washington Street so I have no idea what/where the Fall Creek Blvd is? Maybe a temporary address when they first arrived from New Jersey????
The later stationary is the neat one. Across the very top of the sheet is,"Built to Outclass, Outrun and Outlast Any Car On the Road" Under that and in the center is the Duesenberg 8 symbol (gold embossed with dark blue lettering). Under it is "The Grand Prix Car". To each side of the emblem is an embossed gold medallion (pretty ornate) mentioning Automobile Club de France award. The actual letterhead title reads "Duesenberg Automobile & Motors Co, Inc. Indianapolis, Indiana" There is no specific address on the later stationary.
Anybody have a clue as to what the Fall Creek address is all about???

The Duesenberg plant was in (not near) Elizabeth, New Jersey. It was on the corner of North Avenue and Newark Avenue, which is probably where the "Newark" error comes from. (The Newark city line is about 1/2 mile north of there.) I used to drive past the old building on my way to work at my first real job in the 1950s, and never realized what it was. (Driving my everyday transportation Cord sedan, of course :D) Aerial photos on Mapquest show that it is now a parking lot.

Thanks for the reply. I know the fancier letterhead does have an address. Can't remember if the other does?? I'll pull them out and check. There were also pics of Fred's home at the auction. I think it was on Washington St. also. It was a difficult auction to cover. Inside the building was all the car related items..photos, Fred's personal scrapbook of newspaper articles, some race awards, Fred's patents and correspondance, autographed photo of Eddie Rickenbacker to Fred, a NOS firewall emblem, etc. Outside under a tent was the furniture, books, diecast models, Dennis's wife's jewelry, glassware, etc. An auctioneer was handling each end so running back and forth was required. I ended up with mostly furniture. The photos and other paper items were pricey. The ironic thing was that Dennis' father designed one of the greatest cars ever built and Dennis ended up with a PT Cruiser, which was also auctioned off.

Model A prototypes were built near Elizabeth, NJ (one source I have lists it as Newark); as far as I know (and please, would someone correct me if I'm wrong) the rest of the As, Xs, and Js were all built in the same plant at 1511 West Washington Street in Indianapolis, which began operations in July 1921.

I'm surprised there was no followup on this auction???? I decided to go and get something Duesenberg. Besides several pieces of furniture (old enough to have been Fred's but who knows??), I bought several pieces of original Duesenberg letterhead stationary. There are two types...one appears to be early with little decoration. The other has gold embossed lettering along with mention of awards. I don't have any in front of me right now and don't remember the specific addresses (other that the later version being on Wahington) but were all Duesenbergs, including the Model A's built in the same facility?? Anyone have specific adresses??? Thanks
