It is easy to make art, the 898 was transmogufied into a drawing with one click with an inexpensive computer art program!

Locomobile with cracked block, but it still managed third in 1905 Vanderbilt.

Reminds me of ACD spirit.

There is also a drawing of Weightman's no. 21 Dusie being passed in 1915 Vanderbilt, I tore the picture tring to scan it so I will try later.

The car is the relatively unatractive 1933 boattail speedster once (no twice) owned by Richard Kughn, Detroit. It was creme and orange. Read the post further on down titled "Anybody seen this speedster?". There you can see the body in its original form. Go to www.auto-salon-singen.de/Duesenb ... tail_e.htm to see the car in its current form.

I was wondering if the car is not Melvin Clemens' Barrel side Phaeton. I have an old calendar from 94 or 95 that has the car in it. It is described earlier in the posting as being Creme colored and the barrel side is creme and green. I am looking for the picture to scan and post.

I don't think we are looking at either of the swb "SSJ" roadsters here. The skirted fender, sidemounts, Veed windshield, and the chrome band at the cowl / hood joint would seem to preclude this. It looks more like the Walton Speedster, in a later guise, to me.

Hey Mark,

I'm sure your talents could be used around the club, I searched but could only come up with an 81 calendar but I will keep looking, I would like to see you complete the masterpiece.

Hi

I am a car enthusiast/artist living in England. Some time ago I started a drawing of a Duesenberg. This had been about half completed when the reference picture was thrown away by my then girlfriend (now wife - despite this).

I had given up on ever finishing this drawing when I came across this forum which has renewed my hope of finding the reference picture again.

The picture below is a scan of as far as I got with the drawing. The reference picture was in a 1990/1991 Calendar (yes that long ago!). From memory the car was a cream colour. Not clearly visible on the drawing is that it had a spare wheel behind the front wheel with a mirror on top held on with leather looking straps. The wheels had chrome spokes. The car is convertible and the roof line ends abruptly after the door. It did not protrude far back. I think the car was an SJ Speedster (Boattail) although I may be wrong. The number plate of the car was Michigan 199 48

Finally, the picture was taken in a country lane with trees either side.

If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful, as to would my wife!!

Many thanks

Mark
