We are on tour again with our Auburn Speedster. Mike went to a museum BOD meeting and the annual meeting dinner. We left Auburn, IN this morning, stopping at Fremont, OH at noon. Visited Fremont Automotive and Engler Printing, had lunch with Ken Murusi, then continued on toward VA for an AACA tour. It threatened to rain all day but we drove top down and barely got sprinkled. As we arrived at one of our turns we spotted these longhorn steers off to our left, reminiscent of Texas. We had a lucky stop for gas and pulled under the canopy just as the rain let loose, but by the time the tank was full, the rain stopped and we continued on to our hotel for the night. Tonight's hotel was chosen for it's canopy, and their willingness to let us park under it. There was a restaurant within walking distance so all is well.

We waited until check out time to check out this morning because it was raining and we had hopes it would stop. No such luck! It rained most of the day, not very hard but fairly continuous. We were driving through the mountains of southeastern Ohio, West Virginia and a little bit of Maryland. The roads were curvy and fairly steep. There were several 9° slopes that Mike shifted into 2nd gear for. We drove by a Nuclear power plant and many majestic views from the mountaintops. Every time we pull in for gas or food it's a car show. While the weather is near 70s it felt good to have my coat on.

Today was a perfect day for touring. The weather was gorgeous and the roads were made for us. There were small towns we drove through and lots of country driving. We passed through some Historic areas and several horse farms with lots of stone and picket fences. There were lots of rolling hills and some beautiful prairies filled with cattle, horses, or crops. Traffic was minimal most of the time, but we were able to find great places for meals and stops. We stopped at a flea market, but nothing screamed at us to take it home. We arrived at our destination, Tappahannock, VA. We are a day early and plan to do some touring on our own tomorrow.

Today we drove to Colonial Wiliamsburg and Jamestown. It was another beautiful day for touring. Temperatures got as high as 89F. We passed by a huge lumber mill, stopped for a photo op at a vintage gas station, watched the artisans blow glass, read all the Historic signage along the drive on Jamestown Island and stopped along the turnouts along the waters edge. The roads we chose were tree lined and most had little traffic. Our scheduled tour opens tomorrow. We have plans to do laundry and visit some antique stores before we check in. There are already a few other cars here.

Very warm today. We did our laundry and then toured the local antique stores. One of the antique stores is going out of business. He had some gorgeous stuff, old clocks, lighting, and fabulous glassware, including some very unique pieces. I am going to post a photo from the other day since I didn't get the camera out today. We have check-in and opening banquet tonight so it's going to be a day of reacquainting ourselves with past tourers. This first tour is a sold out tour by the AACA with a limit of 100 cars.
