April 5, We left this morning at around 9 AM. It was cold, still in the mid 30's when we left. The top is up, but the side curtains are not on. We are bundled up with layers of shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, scarfs, hats, and gloves. It is very cold. We cruised south on 131 through Michigan. There were light snow flurries around Three Rivers, MI. Around 11 AM we stopped in Milford at the Appenzeller's Restoration shop. Jan took our picture. We had some business to take care of in Warsaw, IN; then we continued south and ended this first day in Shelbyville, IN. We have used 21.8 gallons of gas so far ($88.07). We are staying at a Super 8 tonight. ($61.29) About 3 miles up the road from here is a casino. We had to try out luck there, and walked out with a dollar less in our pockets. Food today was $36.38

Let's see, who was it I remember telling me, "It will be a LONG time before another 30-degree speedster ride."

See, I TOLD you that lap robe would come in handy... :D

Mike,

It must be a real challenge seeing out of that speedster with the top up.

Safe travels to you Mike and Joan! I wish you sunshine, dry roads, and cheap gas! I hope someday Brad and I can enjoy the open road in the Coupe as much as you guys have in your ACD cars!

After hitting Indianapolis 465 a 5 PM yesterday, we decided to stay off all Innerstate highways today. I have enclosed some pictures of us leaving the house (LOL, not really). We left Shelbyville this morning at 9:15 AM. The weather was much more comfortable; we even removed a couple layers of clothes. The sun was shinning, there were just a few clouds. We angled toward Lexington using small state roads. It was a beautiful drive, daffodils and Pear trees are in bloom. Lots of neat old houses, painted tobacco barns, and green meadows. It is car show wherever we go; we stopped at a Walgreen, where the manager asked us to stop across the river at a used car lot and show his brother the car. Mike has been handing out his cards with the car information on where ever we go. After a late lunch, we put the top down, and even shed the winter coat. This afternoon about 3 PM, we pulled over at a small mall because the car was missing. Mike adjusted the points and everything is fine. We are staying tonight at a Days Inn ($55.07) in Sommerset, KY. Today we drove 230 miles, bought 19.81 gallons of gas at $71.95, and spent $41.71 on food. (The Mc Donalds we were going to burned down.)
