I got a phone call from Barbara Pietracattella this morning, "were we in Florida?" They met us at our hotel about an hour later and we spent the day together talking and eating and talking and eating, and a little shopping. Tomorrow we are traveling to Orlando together and going on a Holylands tour. We will travel to New Smyrna, Fl. for the Citrus meet Thursday morning. The car sat in the parking lot today; we rode with Barbara and Vinnie in their rental car. We spent $46.79 on food today.
No pictures.

We arrived at our hotel in New Smyrna Beach this morning and began our tour promptly at 9 AM. First was a lighthouse tour. We are touring with three Duesenbergs, Two Auburn Speedsters, a Cord Sportsman and an Auburn phaeton. There are around 35 people on the tour. After a tour of the lighthouse, we drove to lunch, followed by two garage tours. As you can see by the pictures, posted here and under the ACD meets, these were no ordinary collections.

It was a perfect day for touring today. It began sharply at 9 AM with a Duesenberg leading the pack. We were directed to the Museum of Arts and Science in Daytona . There is one word for it?fantastic. A museum tour was lead by the head curator, who showed us the Root family?s personal collection (they designed and made the bottles for Coca Cola) which included Coca Cola memorabilia, train cars and memorabilia, racing cars and memorabilia (from cars they raced), an old time apothecary shop and teddy bears. After the guided tour, we were free to tour the remainder of the museum on our own. It was a real treat. No pictures were allowed in the museum.
Following the museum, we drove to lunch at Crabby Joes on Daytona Beach. No one left hungary!
We then toured to the residence of the White?s where we viewed their private collection.
This was one of those days that are why I love going on these regional tours; You get to see the most wonderful things, with great friends that show you the best of what their area has to offer. You gain entrance to see private collections and sites that you would not otherwise have access to and probably do not know about. It is always interesting and exciting and a great time.
Tonight is the banquet which promises to be another great feast with friends.
