The touring season has begun for us. We left this morning in ?Blue Boy? (Mike Huffman?s ?31 L29 Cord) for the St. Louis ACD meet. We have ?Sophie?, our Garmin set for avoiding highways and toll roads. We stopped for the night at 4:30PM central time and are less than 150 miles from St. Louis. Tomorrow our intention is to tour the arch before driving to our hotel. Our friend Bob "Rosie" once told us if you drive your vehicle, the trip there and back is 2/3 of the tour. Today was spent just driving, stopping only for gas, food and bathroom?no sightseeing or pictures. (Thankfully, also no hospital visit.) Mike?s original intention was to drive his Auburn, however it sounds like we are going to have rain most of the rest of the week. Visibility is a problem in the Auburn when the top and side-curtains are up, so I suggested Mike drive the Cord.

Mike has the rumble seat back in, so it's a challenge to pack for the week we plan to be gone. It will be even more of a challenge in the speedster.

Riding in the Cord was nostalgic. Mike mentioned that we might never take another tour like our trip from last spring?Coast to Coast and back again. It?s my idea to go north of San Francisco up the coast to Washington State. We are talking about doing that next Spring in the speedster. Does anyone want to go with us?

I?ll keep you posted about our tours this season, but I have to tell you, it?s a lot more fun to go along than it is to read about them on the forum! Our intention is to drive (not trailer) our cars to the meets we attend this year.

Safe travels and enjoy the newest meet!

I only wish we had the time to partake in a tour like you are talking about for next year. I know the Coupe could do it, but the real test would be Brad and I's marriage. Maybe someday when we are retired and have "free" time we will get to experience the joy of the open road like you and Mike.

Best wishes for a safe journey.

Have a safe trip, Mike and Joan!

I'm told that's the best part of appendix/gallbladder removal: Once they're gone, they're gone, and you don't have to worry about them anymore. :)

You haven't ventured South yet! Trek down my way! I'm always the one driving 7 hours to your "convenient" meets. :D

Today we drove to the St Louis Arch. We took the tram ride to the top. It was very windy today so when we stepped out to go the final few steps to the viewing area it was a shakey. We watched the movie on the Lewis and Clark expedition.
About 3:30PM we continued down the road to our hotel. Bob Coleman and Sandy, Tim Gilmartin and Dan and Joan Mc Farland were already there. After unpacking the car, we drove to Thomas Quick's new home. We toured his car barn and new house. Then we all went to a local restaurant and had supper. We made plans to go visit the transportation museum tomorrow. I forgot to ask how many were signed up for the tour. The rest should arrive tomorrow.
I was going to include pictures but I can't figure out how...Sorry!

Kellie, All you and Brad will need is to take a marriage counselor with you. It is called a Garmin.
